WINE 101: What is Wine?

Wine is many things to many different people. It brings people together, it helps

to create memorable experiences. The English word “wine” comes from the

Proto-Germanic *winam, an early borrowing from the Latin vinum, “wine” or “(grape) vine”.

What Else?

Wine is the end product that occurs when allowing grapes or other fruit juices natural sugars to be transformed into alcohol by  yeast. The process has been labeled as  fermentation. Variations in techniques used in the process of fermentation blended with grape of fruit flavor characteristics allow the various different types of wine to be produced by the wine maker.
